11. Insurance Alternatives

If you can liberate yourself from health insurance, you are then free to go it alone, or to consider alternate approaches to further soften the inevitable blow of health care costs. Self insured businesses face this issue every day. Health Savings Accounts used to be a good option but the ACA has rendered it almost unworkable.

There are other alternatives, but without a doubt the most interesting of all are the Health Care Sharing Ministries. Don't be fooled by the name. The obvious religious affiliation is what has preserved this option as exempt under Obamacare. But you don't have to get baptized in order to participate. Just share a common set of ethics.
